Community Sponsor Program

The Kearney Community Theatre Community Sponsor program is established to offer businesses and organizations in the Kearney area an opportunity to enhance the cultural environment of Kearney and Central Nebraska as well as support Kearney Community Theatre.

Kearney Community Theatre is a non-profit, volunteer based organization that has been providing the best in amateur theatrical opportunities to the Kearney area since 1977.  Public support for Kearney Community Theatre's productions has always been strong.  Buoyed by community support and demand, Kearney Community Theatre was able to build a new multi-functional facility in 1990.

The goal of community theatres across the country is to provide opportunities to the community not only to enjoy live theatre but also for non-professionals to actively participate in the creative process.  The key to the success of the community theatre movement is community support both conceptually and financially.

Community Theatres across Nebraska and the country regularly find support for their activities by becoming partners with businesses, corporations, and organizations.  In partnership, the sponsoring group and the theatre contribute to the cultural well-being and opportunities within the community.

In recent years, Kearney has emerged as the center for the Arts in Greater Nebraska.  Kearney Community Theatre is an active participant in that development.  Kearney's pre-eminence as a cultural focal point is the result of broad based community support of the Arts.

Kearney Community Theatre offers the opportunity for Community Sponsors to support one of KCT's five regular season productions.

Kearney Community Theatre would like to invite you to become a partner with us in continuing our fine tradition of amateur theatre for south central Nebraska.  As a Community Sponsor, you will receive a variety of benefits that publicly recognize your support.

The Community Sponsor Contribution for a Kearney Community Theatre regular season production is $2,500. The Community Co-Sponsor contribution for a Kearney Community Theatre regular season production is $1,250.

 

Community Sponsor Program General Information

• Kearney Community Theatre presents five (5) major productions each year.
• There are a minimum of seven (7) performances of each major production.  Performances occur on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays on two to three successive weekends.  For special occasions or for high demand shows, KCT will add additional performances as needed.
• The Community Sponsor's Special Sponsor's Preview performance will be on the Wednesday evening immediately preceding the opening public performance.  In addition to the special performance, you may also wish to provide a pre-show reception or catered dinner for your guests.  Kearney Community Theatre will assist you in your planning.
• Seating capacity for each public show is 216. This includes 72 non-dinner seats and 144 for dinner theatre. 
• Kearney Community Theatre productions are very well attended and supported by patrons.  Productions regularly attract 80% or more of theatre capacity.  Historically, the Christmas, Winter and Summer productions are sold out.
• Considering a Sold Out production run of 10 shows at 216 seats each show, 2,160 patrons will attend the complete run of a production.

Theatre capacity for the Community Sponsor's Preview performance is 200.  In terms of regular ticket prices, this is equivalent to a $2200 direct expense.

The Community Sponsorship of $2,500, then, provides for a performance worth $2,200 to the Sponsor's guests and a $300 donation in support of Kearney Community Theatre.  The donation becomes part of KCT's annual operating budget and will be used principally to support production expenses or special projects.  Production expenses range through: costume rentals, materials for set construction, fees paid to artistic, musical, and/or technical directors, payment of royalties, production advertising and promotion.

Special Projects include purchase of additional lighting and sound equipment, facility maintenance and enhancement, and expanded programs.

Considering five (5) Sold Out productions each year, 9.500 people will patronize KCT during a season.  More conservatively, if productions attract 85% of capacity, 8,000 people will attend performances.  Consequently, the Community Sponsor's support of KCT can directly affect up to 8,000 people each year.   Further, the Community Sponsor's name is prominently associated with all advertising for the sponsored production.  This advertising reaches considerably more people than just those who attend the sponsored production.

When you become a Community Sponsor,
Kearney Community Theatre Will:

1. Provide a special "Sponsor's Preview" performance of the sponsored production for 200 people.  This is an excellent way to say "thanks" to your valued employees, clients, customers or special guests.
2. Give full and prominent recognition to the Sponsor in all advertising, press releases, and all media announcements for the production you elect to sponsor.  This has excellent advertising potential for your business and shows your community support.
3. Provide prominent recognition of the Sponsor on the title page and the production staff portion of the playbill for the Sponsored production.
4. Provide a listing of the Sponsor in all playbills for the entire season along with all other special recognition of benefactors and patrons.
5. Provide a prominent advertisement in the production's printed playbills for use by the Sponsor.
